Robert N. Baker, III
Robert N. Baker, III (Since 1967 - Suffolk)

Robert N. Baker III, the current President, and his mother, Allie Oliver Baker, ran the business together from 1967-1969. Allie was one of the few women in the state who had a funeral director's license at that time. During that time, Robert was attending mortuary school in Syracuse, New York, and was also on active duty with the National Guard in Fort Knox. Prior to attending mortuary school, Robert received a degree in Business Administration from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. In 1969, he returned to operate the business full time.

Robert N. Baker, IV "Blake" (Since 2000 - Suffolk)

Joined the family business as Vice President, making him the fifth generation family member to work for R.W. Baker & Co. Blake received an Environmental Science degree from Ferrum College and had worked in the consulting field for three years. He then decided to return home and work with his father. Blake attended John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA, and earned a degree in Mortuary Science and after an 18-month apprenticeship, passed both the state and national exams.

Kelly Baker
Kelly Baker (Since 2007 - Suffolk)

Kelly Baker is married to Blake and joined R.W. Baker in 2007, and serves as Treasurer and Secretary of both R.W. Baker and Nansemond Pet Cremation Services. Kelly worked as a dispatcher for the City of Norfolk for nine years and then for USAA insurance company for two years. Kelly is the second oldest of five sisters. Her parents, Vickie and Grant Ayres retired to Chesapeake after Grant's 27 plus years in the Air Force. Kelly and Blake are the proud parents of Madalyn "Madie" Lynell Baker and Robert "Buddy" N. Baker V.

Robert Beale
Robert Beale (Since 2009 - Suffolk)

Mr. Beale was born in Suffolk and is a 1967 graduate of John Yeates High School where he enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball. He is married to Faye Blevins and they have two children. Bobby is an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He enjoys helping his wife at their peanut shop in downtown Suffolk and also enjoys golfing and reading.

Carolyn Brothers
Carolyn Brothers (Since 1993 - Suffolk)

Mrs. Brothers is a 1956 graduate of Sunbury High School. She is married to Charles H. Brothers, Sr. They have one son and one grandson. Carolyn has been a member of Whaleyville United Methodist Church since 1962. She has been the organist and choir director since 1972.

Elizabeth Drewery
Elizabeth Drewery (Since 2012 - Wakefield)

"Liz" was born and raised in Waverly and graduated from Waverly High School. She is a member and the organist of Waverly Congregational Christian Church. She enjoys knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, reading, the beach and traveling. Her and husband Emmett live in Waverly. They have one son, a great daughter-in-law, and one grandson.

Bill Eason
Bill Eason (Since 2003 - Suffolk)

Mr. Eason was born in Suffolk and is a 1952 graduate of Suffolk High School where he played football, baseball, and ran track. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952, and served four years in the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1956 as a Staff Sergeant. He is married to Anne Benton and they have four children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Bill retired from Birdsong Peanut Co. after 26 years. Bill has been a member of First Baptist Church since 1945. He enjoys playing golf and riding his motorcycle. 

Larry Evans
Larry Evans (Since 2010 - Suffolk)

Mr. Evans was born in Edenton, N.C. and moved to VA in 1963. He graduated in 1966 from John Yeates High School. He served in U.S. Air Force for four years. He married Marilyn Jones in 1975 and they had three daughters. They also have six grandchildren. Larry has been a member of Wilroy Baptist Church for 45 years serving as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Associated Lodge 41, served as present and past president, and worked for a John Deere dealership for 40 years. He is enjoying retirement with family and his grandchildren. 

Betty Jo Gay
Betty Jo Gay (Since 2012 - Wakefield)

Lives in Wakefield with husband, DC. She graduated from Wakefield High School and Pan American Business School. She is a member of Wakefield UMC. Betty Jo enjoys traveling and spending time with family and works with a group called Pink Pearls to raise funds for breast cancer.

Joe Hancock (Since 2012 - Wakefield)

Was born and raised on the same land, three miles out of Wakefield, in Surry County that he and his wife live on today. They have been married 48 years, have 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren and are expecting their first great grandchild. He tried motorcycle racing before building his own modified pulling tractor which he entered in competitions up and down the East Coast for 21 years. He retired as a Forest Warden and mechanic from the Virginia Department of Forestry in 2003 after more than 29 years of service. He was ordained as a deacon in the Waverly Baptist Church in 1995, taught Sunday School and served as the Commander of the Awana program and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a lay speaker at several churches. He and his wife have enjoyed being part of several mission teams, traveling to Romania, Ukraine (where he was the team leader) and Peru. They were also trained and certified for Disaster Relief efforts. He has been in the process of restoring a 1952 GMC truck that they had shortly after they were married.
