Winnie Edwards Zimmerman, 61, passed away on December 3, 2013. Born in Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Outland Edwards and Helen Rawls Barnes Edwards. She is survived by her children, Marcus Zimmerman III of Tennessee, Kimberly Holmes and her husband, Horace of Courtland, Nicholas Zimmerman and his wife, Otelia of Boykins; grandchildren, Amanda Holmes, Sylvia Scott, Ian Holmes; sister, Martha Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Edwards. Services will be private. Friends will be received Wednesday evening and Thursday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the home of Nicholas and Otelia Zimmerman in Boykins. The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Wakefield Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, P.O. Box 727, Wakefield, VA 23888. Winnie was a dear sweet cousin, whose health fell on hard times, and after years of struggling against all hope, she succumbed to what is inevitable for all of us.
