Susan Cote, 66, of Suffolk VA, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep surrounded by her family on July 22, 2020. Beloved wife of Danny Cote  for 46 years, and loving  mother to Nicole Cote, Jaime Cote Butler, and Danny CoteII.  Sue is also survived by 5 much-loved grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and their children.

Susan was born in Boston Massachusetts and was raised by her Grandmother and Grandfather Pearl and Hugh Casley. When Susan was in elementary school the family moved to near-by Quincy Mass, where Sue went on to graduate from North Quincy High School,

Susan met Danny while Sue was staying with friends in Old Orchard Beach Maine over Labor Day weekend in 1972, and the couple went on to be was married in Boston in 1974. Following the wedding the pair moved to Portland Maine to work and raise a family.

Susan worked for several years as a legal Secretary for prominent local Attorney John O’Leary, and then after becoming pregnant with Nicole, left the workforce to raise a family.  Sue and Dan spent 26 year in the Greater Portland area where they had a wide circle of friends and were active in the community. As a result of Dan’s evolving career, their time in Portland was followed by a series of moves to Charlton Massachusetts, Venetia Pennsylvania, and finally to Suffolk Virginia where they have lived for the last 8 years.  Susan maintained contact with a close group of friends over the years including current and former neighbors and friends from the various places that she had lived, but was never happier than when her children were visiting with her.

Her charm, infectious laugh or smile, her openness and genuine caring for others and her love of entertaining or dining out all will be truly missed by those that know and love her.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020,  7 PM with Rev. Michael Halley officiating at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends following the service. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
