Roy Charles Gwaltney, Sr. passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Born May 10, 1952, he was a son of the late Walter A. Gwaltney, Sr. and Josephine L. Clary. Roy loved bluegrass music, being outdoors, fishing, and attending ball games, but what he loved the most was being with his family. He took pride in caring and being there for his children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Roy C. Gwaltney, Jr. and his wife, Yvonne, Patricia A. Price, Angela S. Pond and her husband, Michael, Darrell Scarboro and his wife, Jennifer, and Elizabeth L. Gwaltney; his grandchildren, David Gwaltney, Tiffany Vick, James Price, Jr., Phillip Pond, Cara Cutright, Dustin Cutright, Austin Wiggs, Ashlyn Wiggs, and Autumn Wiggs; his brothers, Walter A. Gwaltney, Jr. and Sidney B. Gwaltney, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 1, 2019 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel with Rev. Cliff Fritzinger officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, P.O. Box 2156, Norfolk, VA 23501-2156. Condolences may be posted at
