Rita “Diane” Cooper, 65, beloved wife, sister, aunt, stepmother, and friend too many, passed away on September 4th, 2019 surrounded by loved ones.  She fought the most difficult battle of her life against ALS with courage, honor, and dignity until the Lord came to take her home.  She was a native of Hampton, VA.  Diane married her beloved husband Ed in 2015 who lovingly and devotedly remained by her side until her heavenly eternal life began.

With the hope and desire of saving the lives of countless others and in particular finding a cure for ALS as well as other life threatening diseases, Diane donated her body to The Virginia State Anatomical Program for learning.  We are all so very proud of her for that kindness and generosity for humanity.  Diane loved a good party and was truly the epitome of a social butterfly with a million dollar beautiful smile that lit up the room.  Many friends have shared memories of her larger than life personality and over the top shenanigans.  Reminiscing with all that loved her makes our hearts smile.

Special thanks go to Dana Stutts, Andrea Moran, and Debbie Vega for their unwavering support, many visits, gifts, and lunch dates.  Debbie assured that Diane still have too much fun leading sing-a-longs at a local establishment just to keep her spirits up and forever remain the life of the party.  That’s our Diane.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Ed Cooper, stepchildren Eddy, Jesse, and Jenna Cooper, brother Dale Dishman (Tina) nephews Evin and Blake Dishman, sister Sheila Dishman (Nick).  She was predeceased by her father Joseph Dishman, mother Shelby Isley, and sister Suzanne Weaver.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Diane to let the good times roll will be held on October 15th, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Mama Rosa’s Italian Family Restaurant.  Location: 617 E. Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23663.  Join us to share memories and laughs of Diane in the good old days.

In lieu of flowers her family requests that all donations be made to the ALS Association.  Condolences may be posted at www.rwbakerfh.com.

I was saddened to learn that Diane has left us. She was an amazing lady with a ‘bigger than life’ personality. My condolences to her family, especially Sheila who was by her side every moment.

Sheila, so sorry you lost your beautiful sister. I know your heart is broken, just know that she is in a wonderful place where there is no pain with her Mama holding her tight.

Words will not wipe away your tears and hugs may not ease the pain but hold onto
Your memories because forever they will remain ❤️

Gene and I both are sending you our sincerest most heartfelt condolences. You and Dianne were such a great sister duo, such fun and especially colorful. I know you miss her and your beautiful mama but we can all be sure those ladies will be party planning . We’ll all have a great welcome party as we come through Heavens gates. I’m so sad I haven’t been in Va. to say goodbye, I loved them both . Take comfort that they are together and suffer no more. We love Dianne’s memorial and she would love your thoughtfulness in planning this for her. Sending love and prayers for comfort, Gene and Carolyn Hansen

I had the pleasure of working with Diane at Eastern State Hospital and she was a very pleasant person that always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed working in Administration and brightened any office she entered. I extend deepest sympathies to her family. We will all miss her and know she is now in a better place.
