Raymond Edward Griffin, 88, died Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Richard C. and Lucy B. Griffin. He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Alice W. Griffin; brother, Wilbur C. Griffin and sister, Marjorie G. Gray.

Mr. Griffin was a member of Holland Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class. He was a graduate of Holland High School and served with the U.S Coast Guard. After serving his country he returned to the family farm to continue his passion for farming, retiring in 1996. He was a long-standing member of the Holland Ruritan Club and a member of the Colonial Virginia Model A Ford Club for many years. He spent countless hours volunteering with the Holland Athletic Association and with Suffolk Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include two daughters, Allison L. Griffin and Suzanne Griffin; brother, S. Earl Griffin and wife Diane; brothers-in-law, Charles A. Gray and William C. Worrell and wife Janice; six nieces and two nephews.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Home Instead Senior Care and Heartland Hospice Care for their support and dedication. Due to COVID 19, the family will hold a private graveside service with Pastor Matthew Johnson officiating at Western Branch Baptist Church cemetery.
