Nancye Hughes Croshaw of Lake Prince Woods, Suffolk, Virginia passed away on February 7, 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born March 5, 1943 in Newport News and shortly thereafter moved with her parents to Sussex County near Waverly. She attended Waverly High School and went to Secretarial School in Richmond after graduation. She worked for VEPCO in Petersburg for a short time before becoming a homemaker and raising her three children back in Waverly. Once her children were older, she substitute taught at Tidewater Academy before retiring from Spencer Brothers Propane in Waverly. She attended Waverly Congregational Christian Church. She was also a past President of the Waverly Woman’s Club. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching College Basketball.

She is predeceased by her parents, Samuel Clarence Hughes Jr. and Lucye Murphy Hughes. She is survived by her children, Wayne Croshaw Jr. (Tammi) of Smithfield, Amanda Norris (Richard) of Waverly, Amy Pruitt (Chris) of Wakefield and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Croshaw, Taylor Pruitt, Thomas Pruitt,  and Caroline Norris.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 10, 2020 in the Waverly Cemetery on Spring Branch Road in Waverly. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall of Waverly Congregational Christian Church, 123 Coppahaunk Ave, Waverly, VA  immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waverly Congregational Christian Church, P.O. Box 636, Waverly, Virginia 23890. The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co. Nancye was a good friend to me at Lake Prince. She was such a sweet lady. We both liked talking about the events of basketball season. I will miss her a lot. Blessings and prayers to all of the family.
