Saturday, January 16, 2021, Melvin Lassiter, a hardworking, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away at the age of 70.

Melvin was born January 13, 1951 in Suffolk, VA. He was one of the best drywall hangers, been called a legend. He married Beverly Abbott, November 19, 1983 and lived out the rest of his days in his dream home in Smithfield, VA.

Melvin’s passion has always been his work. He was proud of all his accomplishments. He enjoyed fishing and telling stories that had you waiting for more. There isn't a person who knew him that didn't have a story to tell. He will be remembered and missed by many for years to come.

Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Jesse B. Lassiter, Sr. and mother, Nettie R. Lassiter; sister, Mildred Edunrds and son, Don'e Greene, Sr. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Beverly Abbott; children, Ray Lassiter, Karen Lassiter, Carolyn Lassiter, Linda K, Michelle Ebron, Bobby Green, Don’E Greene, Craig Abbott and many more to whom he was a father, grandfather and mentor. Along with his brothers and sisters, Barbra Ricks, Carolyn Ricks, Judy Brit, Robin Guthrie, Jerry Lassiter and Jesse (Pete) Lassiter, Jr.

Visitation will be held in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 4 PM to 6 PM. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
