Marchelle D. Peyton
Marchelle D. Peyton, 60, of Windsor, VA, passed away on July 8, 2021, after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her partner of 35 years, Jenny Lee Edmunds; father, Jack D. Peyton, and brother, Andrew M. Peyton.
Born and raised in Bedford, IN, she was a high school athlete competing in volleyball, basketball, and tennis, and loved summer softball. She gained a B.A. from Franklin College and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee and fight for our country’s freedom. She had a very long career after the Navy working at the Veterans Administration hospital, continuing to serve this great nation and our veterans. She loved the Lord, loved life, and had a smile that would light up any room. She loved her horses and caring for animals, rescuing many dogs, cats, and other critters over the years. She loved gardening and was not afraid of a hard days work outside or getting dirty. God rest her soul.
She is survived by her mother, Etta M. Peyton (Chambers); sister, Angela Peyton (Shelby), and stepmother, Sheila Peyton.

I too was one of the lucky people to work with Marchelle at the VA. I always looked forward to swapping stories with her about animals, gardening and the daily briefing about the antics of "the ladies" (her chickens). She was always so upbeat, so kind and helpful. My deepest condolences to her family. She will always be remembered.

My condolences to Marchelle's family. Marchelle was more than one of my employees. We said we were sisters and we confided in each other about family and work. She and I would talk about any and everything. She was my friend. Marchelle was the ultimate acquisition professional. I trusted her and knew I could count her. She always had my back even when I had to make difficult decisions. When we both decided to retire in 2019, she told me she would make her date 30 days after mine so the spotlight could be on me. I said absolutely not! I was honored to share my retirement day and celebration with her. Lastly, I never once heard her complain or whine about her battle with cancer. Marchelle, you did it your way…Rest in Paradise.
