Master Chief Petty Officer Lawrence Lyle Remington, U.S. Navy, Retired passed away peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2018. Born March 28, 1941 in New York, he was a son of the late Harold Earl Remington and Gladys Benjamin Remington. Lawrence honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 30 years of service. After retirement, he served as a Captain at Western Tidewater Regional Jail in Suffolk, retiring after diligently working there for 11 years. Lawrence was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.  

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Soonja Kim Remington; his daughter, Denise Remington-Hereford; his son, David Remington; his grandsons, Ethan Remington and Logan Hereford.  

At Lawrence’s request, all services will be private. The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel. Condolences may be posted at www.rwbakerfh.com.

Mr. Remington treated everyone like he wanted to be treated. Western Tidewater Regional Jail was not the same once he left. He made everyone on the job feel like family and treated everyone as such. His is loved and will be missed. My condolences go out to friends, family, and extended family.
