Joseph M. Jordan passed away on November 18, 2017 at his home with his family by his side.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Eugene Jordan; a brother Cecil Jordan and a sister Ruby Hodges.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters; Jennefer Ambrose (Joseph) of Zuni, Julie Bartley (Robert John) of Suffolk; grandchildren, Bria Ambrose, Brandy Ambrose, Tristan Pressley, Sydney Pressley; aunt Anna Roberson; cousin Judi Harcum as well as many nieces and nephews.

He joined the Army Air Corps at age 17 and served as an Airborne Ranger for 12 years. He was chosen to serve as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard during John F. Kennedy’s visit to Fort Stewart Georgia at the end of the Cuban Missile Crisis on November 26, 1962.

The family would like to thank his “side kick” Nurse Linda Evans and Medi Home Hospice for the care provided during his brief illness.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 am, Wednesday, November 22, 2017, in R.W. Baker & Company Funeral Home, 509 W. Washington St. Suffolk Va. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd. Suffolk, Va. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Horton’s Wreath Society, P.O. Box 6246 Virginia Beach, Va. 23456. Jennifer, Julie and Family (Especially the Grand Children). Joe Loved everyone very much and especially looked forward to being with his Grandchildren. I was able to spend a lot of time with him and will always cherish the Memories of our times together, Talking, Sharing Stories, Cooking on the Grill, Working on stuff together, Watching TV......What a Great Guy he was.....
