Joseph Ray Carter, 57, of Petersburg passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at MCV/VCU Medical Center. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Carter; his wife, Pamela Jo Carter and a brother, Jack Carter. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Anthony Carter, Kenneth Carter and wife, Betty, Laverne Verdeyen and Crystal Buhls; mother, Mildred Black; grandchildren, Destiny Buhls and Barbara Jo Taylor and brothers, Gene Carter and Donald Carter. The family will receive friends at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Wakefield Chapel Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm. At Joe's request all other services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675. Condolences may be posted at www.rwbakerfh.com.
