May you Rest In Peace my friend, many memories we will keep I our hearts from working in Japan to playing rounds of golf. Rest easy now.

Dearest Anita,
Please accept our heartfelt and sincerest condolences for the tragic loss of a truly great man, Jim Downey. We still cannot believe how sudden he was taken from us all, friends and family alike. Know this however, we share in your grief today and will always treasure the fond memories we have of Jim. You were both there for us at a very difficult time in our lives and although we had just met Jim at the time, he was there to unselfishly help us. This, we will never forget. Jim had no enemies; only friends. A testament to his character. We look forward to seeing him again someday seated alongside our almighty father in heaven.

Rest in peace Jim. You were a great friend and coworker who brought many smiles and good times to the office here at SRF. Very Sad to know you have gone.

Words sometimes fail to express the heartfelt sorrow at the loss a great friend and co-worker. Due to my wife's recent injury, we will be unable to attend, but our thoughts and prayers go out to Anita and the extended family. Rest in peace

I have never forgotten my dear co-worker and dear friend and I am so sorry to hear about your loss Anita. Jim was so special to us all and he was my work family for the time that I knew him at NGSS. I am praying for you and your family at this time, so that you will find peace somehow in knowing Jim is in a better place without pain, and he sits with God now. Please know you are in my thoughts and heart, and prayers are being sent your way from California. Lisa Brant

Jim's hard fought battle is finally over. He was taken from us all so quickly but is now in a better place. We all loved him so much and have so many wonderful memories of our times together. He was such a beautiful soul and an amazing husband to you Anita. Everyone was truly blessed to have known him. Rest in Heaven with God, Jim, and someday we shall all be together again.

To the family of James Downey,
I am sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that "Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18) With sympathy,

Rest in peace Jim. Since day one you've been a great guy. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and your love of the blues, you'll truly be missed.

Sincere condolences to the Downey family on the passing of a fine and wonderful man. Jim joined our team at Naval Station Norfolk after a successful and lengthy tour in Japan, serving as a subject matter expert in all aspects of surface ship engineering. He easily established himself in Norfolk as the go-to-guy for LPD-17 class ships and was sought out from engineers throughout the fleet for his knowledge and guidance. He was a true American and a dedicated naval engineer who will be missed immensely. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Downey Family that you find comfort and peace during this difficult time.
