Jack Beale departed this earthly life to be with the lord on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. Born December 1, 1925, he was a son of the late Willie Augusta and Edna Harvell Beale. Mr. Beale proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a signalman on the USS DE 352. He was a member of Waverly Congregational Christian Church, a member of the Wakefield Ruritan Club, a past President of the Peanut Growers Association, and a former director of the Bank of Sussex and Surry. Mr. Beale owned and operated Owens Grove Farm where he grew crop and raised livestock. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Doris Ann Rawlings Beale; a son, Blair Gilliam Beale; and his siblings, Cecil L. “Buck” Beale, Albert W. “Pete” Beale, Robert Lee Beale, Dorothy Beale Seward, Fay Beale Worrell, and Evelyn Beale Crenshaw.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Craig Rawlings Beale and his wife, Kay; his daughter, Paige Beale Baldwin and her husband, Joe; grandchildren, Madison Beale Presson, Allie Mitchell Presson, Tyler Blair Beale, Kendall Brooke Beale, Ashley Elizabeth Beale and Amanda Rawlings Beale; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of Wakefield United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Waverly Congregational Christian Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 636 Waverly, VA 23890, Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 583 Waverly, VA 23890, or Wakefield United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 87 Wakefield, VA 23888. The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel where condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
