Elmer J. Boyce “EJ”, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 29, 2017. He was predeceased by his parent Elmer James Boyce Sr. and Doris Boyce; both of his “Girls” Linda Hodge and Debbie Peterson; and granddaughter Stephanie Peterson. 

EJ was an US Air Force Veteran serving from 1951 to 1955, and after his service he worked for the VA ABC Store until his retirement. After retiring he enjoyed spending his time with his numerous grandkids and volunteering at GA Treakle Elementary School.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Audrey Marie Boyce, Son Barry L. Boyce (Randi), son in law Dennis Hodge (Sherry), grandkids Shannon Jones ( Chris), Travis Hodge (Kat), Adam Hodge (Jamie), Taylor Boyce, Cheyenne Boyce and Brittany Peterson; and 6 great grandkids Breyan, Kensley, Riley, Sydney, Andi and Marquis.

A Funeral Service will be held on January 2, 2018 at 1 PM in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk VA 23435 with entombment following the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Portsmouth VA with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sending love, hugs and prayers to EJ's family and friends. EJ will be surely missed for the twinkle in his eye, and the smile in his heart. He was the best friend and neighbor that anyone could ever ask for.
