Curtis Dale Rekkedal, 67, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Curtis was born in Devils Lake, ND, he served in the United States Navy for 4 years, including 2 tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1971. He married Sandra L. Wing August 10, 1974 in her hometown of Mandan, ND. They had 5 children and lived in Devils Lake till 1999 then moving to Suffolk, VA where their children joined them.

Curt had a 20 year career at UPS after an injury he returned to trucking retiring in February 2017 after a total of 50 years and an estimated 5 million miles on the road.


He is survived by his wife Sandra of 42 years, daughters; Macey Ann Olenjack, Hally Kay (Ligon) Mouring and husband Jeff, sons; Curtis Dean and wife Sandra Kay (Shereck), Jory Cole and wife Kathryn Marie (Ciotti), Tanis Donald, grandchildren; Shelby Olenjack, Riley Ligon, Jon Mouring, Lillee Ann Mouring, Curtis James Rekkedal, Chase Rekkedal, June Rekkedal, Evelyn Rekkedal, and step-grandchild; Megan Mouring.


A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 213 N. Main St., Suffolk with Rev. Keith Emmerson officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund 1235 S Clark St, Arlington, VA 22202 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital P.O.
