Norborne Tucker “N.T.” Poarch Jr. went to be with his Lord on November 15, 2019. He was the son of the late Alma Louise Bowen and Norborne Tucker Poarch, Sr. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Margaret W. Poarch, sister Frances P. Langston Holland, granddaughter Judith Peters and son-in-law Donald Peters.

N.T. was a Suffolk High School Graduate, class of 1943. He served in the Army during WWII and retired from the United States Post Office as Postmaster in Chuckatuck. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church.

Nora Mae Adkins, 85, of Smithfield, VA passed away peacefully at her home on November 13, 2019. Born May 23, 1934 in Surry County, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Thomas Atkins and Elnora Wells Atkins. Mrs. Adkins was a member of Moore’s Swamp Baptist Church. Nora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who loved to tend her garden and her flowers. Above all, caring for her family was her greatest joy. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Harris and her children, Ellen W. Siler, Ella S. Wells, Betty W.

Pamela Denise Houston, 59, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019. She was the daughter of Billie Hammack and the late Dorothy Sturges.

She was a proud wife, mom and grandmother. Pam was always loving, uplifting, and creative. She loved to sing and enjoyed playing the guitar and piano.

Pamela is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Houston; daughter, Heather H. Botez (Sergiu); grandsons, Max and Alex; father, Billie Hammack; step- father, Allan E. Sturges; sisters Kim and Sheree.

Ruth Anne Parker, 54, died October 21, 2019 at Hospice Home at High Point in High Point, NC. Anne was the daughter of the late Ruth Hunt Parker and Clarence Henderson Parker. She was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Parker Webb, brother Thomas Henderson Parker and nephew Joel Hillyer Webb.

Survivors include her nephew, Jack Williams Webb III and wife Melissa of Fuquay Varina, NC; nice, Alice Webb Gillespie and husband David of Chesapeake, VA; and sister-in-law Nancy Parker.
