Chesapeake – Fern Simmons Spiers, 89, widow of almost 61 years to Norfleet W. Spiers, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020. She was the youngest of 13 siblings of the late Charlie A. and Estelle Ansall Simmons of who she has been predeceased by 7 brothers and 5 sisters. She was a retired civil service employee from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard who worked in payroll of the comptroller department. Mrs. Spiers was a Baptist.

Margaret H. Sarick

Margaret H. Sarick, 87 passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Alethia Hollowell.

She retired after 43 years with Planter’s Peanut. She was a longtime member of Oakland Christian United Church of Christ, Friendship Sunday School Class, a former member of the choir and a tireless worker in the church kitchen.

Left to cherish her memory is her love of her life of 53 years, Leonard “Nick” Sarick and brother, Bobby Hollowell (Faye) of Chesapeake.

Moreen M. Russell

Moreen Margaret Russell (Auber), 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2020, in Bethesda, Maryland.  Born on March 17, 1932, in London, England, to George and Alice Auber (Dowle), she survived the WWII Nazi bombing of London as a young child, and later worked for the American Army and Air Force Exchange Service at Royal Air Force Station Ruislip.

Judith Ellen Grimes

Judith Ellen Jeska Grimes went to be with her Lord on April 3, 2020. She was the daughter of Edward L. Jeska and the late Elizabeth E. Jeska. She was predeceased by her brother Ted Jeska.

Besides her father Judith was survived by her husband John W. Grimes whom she married on June 6, 1976 on the USS Nimitz. She is also survived by her sisters Cheryl Jeska and Meribeth Jeska.

William Edgar Griffin “Willie” died on April 2, 2020. He was the son of Alma Jean G. Kerner and the late Joseph F. Griffin, Jr.

Willie was a former welder, member of Summerton United Methodist Church and was an avid Redskins fan.

He is survived by his mother Alma Jean G. Kerner; sons William Joseph Griffin and Anthony Michael Griffin; brothers Joseph Griffin III and wife Donna, Timothy Griffin and wife Peggy, Kenneth Griffin and wife Pammy; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
