Mary Ann Wells Newsome of Wakefield passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Born April 19, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Withers Edward Wells and Ida Mae Nelms Wells. Mrs. Newsome was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a retired nurse from Dr. Kaufman’s office in Wakefield and was a member of Ivor Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Curtis Edward Newsome, Sr.

 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Lou Cash (Lyle), Harry Stanley (Lisa), Judy Ulmer, Curtis E. Newsome, Jr. (Claudia), and Kasper W. Newsome; grandchildren, Charles Ingram (Sarah), Stephanie Ulmer, Dana Barker (Chris), Kelly Stanley, Vicki Newsome, Curt Newsome, III, Wyatt Newsome, and Lisa Bradshaw; great-grandchildren, Jack Barker and Ava Moon; brother-in-law, George P. Logan; numerous nieces and nephews and her friends at Consulate of Windsor.  

 

The family will receive friends at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 5, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. Donald Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association/Greater Richmond, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite #130, Glen Allen, VA  23060. Condolences may be posted at www.rwbakerfh.com.
