To the family of Magaret Fanney.

My name is Galen Hatfield and for several years our family lived next to Margaret in Arrowhead Beach, near Edenton. She was a wonderful neighbor and she was especially kind as we moved into the area. I recall how she had many wonderful stories about growing up using the house in Arrowhead, fishing and enjoying the water.

One story I will share that I think captures Margaret…When we first bought the house it came without a pier. Margaret and our neighbor on the other side, Jack, were always more than happy to let our family use theirs. But, more noticeable was that the neighborhood was exceptionally quiet. I think Margaret was about 80 and Jack was definitely over 90. There were almost no kids, anywhere. Mine were about 10 and 14 and one weekend we were there with a bunch of their friends for a sleepover weekend. The kids were laughing, yelling, playing and jumping off both piers. At one point it got kind of loud and I went outside to ask them to keep the noise level down. Margaret was sitting in a chair on the front lawn watching the chaos and she immediately (but politely) chided me for asking them to settle down. She said that she loved to hear the noise of children back in Arrowhead. She was super nice to our whole family, but especially the kids.

Margaret will be missed.

Dear family, may God the Father of tender mercies (Psalm 83:18) surround and comfort all of you during this difficult time and may you find comfort in the promise of a resurrection in Acts 24:15.

Our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of Margaret Jane. She was my cousin and I always loved seeing her and sharing stories of our families at our annual Powell family reunions. She was a warm, loving and compassionate woman and would do anything to help someone in need.
She will be greatly missed by so many people, especially her family who were all so special to her. Our love and our sympathy to each of you. Betty & Charlie Holland
