Guestbook

Dear Family of Emily, I offer my condolences. Emily was a very special lady and I know she will be greatly missed. My church, Grace Fellowship, merged with Mount Zion church years ago when I was a young mother. We were a church of thirty somethings merging with a church who's members were mostly sixty and over. Emily quickly became one of my favorite people! She was charming, very witty, welcoming and loved all the kids. She also handled all the changes we brought in with much grace and wisdom. She mentored for me what I wanted to be like when I was older. My kids are grown now and I am among the older generation at that same church with a pastor that is young enough to be my son! Emily's example is always before me, and I hope I can live up to it!

Emily was a legend for those of us who were her fellow church members. She had a lively sense of humor and extraordinary wisdom and perspective. I always enjoyed our brief visits before and after church.

I remember once, when I was teaching the young children in Sunday School, I asked for her help identifying former members of the church who had served in the military and were buried in our graveyard. I wanted to show the children what Memorial Day meant by bringing in small flags to place on their graves. She showed up that Sunday dressed in vivid red, white and blue with her own stash of flags and came with us, telling stories to the children as we toured the graves.

I remember her love of ladybugs.
I remember her fearless exhortations.
I remember her fondness for being well-dressed.

She will always remain a model of the older woman the Scriptures instruct us to be.

So sorry that I can't be with you all at this time. Know that I have you in my prayers. Emily was very special to me my entire life! I will miss her so much. I am making a donation to the Ross Township No Kill Shelter in her honor. I know she would like that.

Emily was just always there in my life! She and her brother, J.R. spent a lot of time with my older brothers at our house. She kind of helped to mold me into who I am. I played on her bed with her precious paper dolls, and she taught me to color. I have never known what it would be like not to have her anymore. As long as I live, she shall live also. In my memory and in my heart!
