Doris Jean Harrup Westbrook, age 79, of Waverly passed away peacefully on July 21, 2017 with her family by her side. She lived her life devoted to her family. Doris Jean worked many years as a clerk at Sussex County General District Courthouse. She was a member of Waverly United Methodist Church and was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra R. Coleman and husband, Dr. George Coleman of Waverly; a son, Robert C. Rogers and wife, Donna of Yale; step-son, Walter E. Westbrook and wife, Gail Ford-Westbrook of Waverly; step-daughter, Betty Lou Gilliland and husband, Robert Gilliland of Arlington; step-daughter, Patricia Westbrook Jenkins and husband, Richard Jenkins of Waverly; five grandsons, Cam Coleman, Sam Rogers, Casey Rogers, Cameron Westbrook, and Austin Westbrook; two granddaughters, Jessica Rogers Taylor and Carey Coleman; a brother, Ernest E. “Pike” Harrup of Claremont; three sisters, Lillian Holdsworth of Disputanta, Patricia Padgett of Disputanta, and June Hostutler of Mechanicsville, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. “Johnnie” Westbrook; her parents, Leslie E. Harrup and Marie Clary Harrup; and a brother, Raymond Harrup.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 23, 2017 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home from 6 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, July 24, 2017 at Waverly United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Snodgrass and Rev. Connie Gibbs-Morris officiating. A private family burial will follow the service in Waverly Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Waverly United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 12, Waverly, VA 23890, or the Memorial Fund of Tidewater Academy, 217 West Church Street, Wakefield, VA 23888. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
