Barbara DeBerry Whitmore passed away on November 23, 2017. She is predeceased by her parents Lenmore and Faith DeBerry, as well as her brother Mark Wayne DeBerry.

Barbara was a wonderful mother and grandmother; she had a remarkable love for her family. She was an excellent cook and loved spending her summers at Lake Gaston, with her free time she enjoyed going to casinos. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church and she was a longtime employee of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. She later retired from Walmart.

 Left to cherish her memory are her husband who was also her High School sweetheart, Fred Whitmore, they were married for 57 Years. Barbara also leaves behind her sons Scott M. Whitmore (Teresa) of Carrollton, VA; Barry K. Whitmore (Tina) of Raleigh, NC; Grandchildren Wesley, Dylan, Blake, and Tyson;  Great Granddaughter Brianna,  sister Patricia Rucker (Ingo) of Maryland, and brother Jimmy DeBerry (Sandy) of Michigan.  

 A visitation will be held Sunday November 26, 2017 from 3 PM to 4:30 PM at R.W, Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory 509 W. Washington ST, Suffolk, VA. A Funeral service will be held Monday November 27, 2017 2 PM at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens 4569 Shoulders Hill RD Suffolk, VA with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. The family is being assisted by R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory.
