Joseph Edwin Collins, 87, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 11, 2012.
He was a native of Nansemond County. He was the son of the late Joseph Millard Collins and Euna Baker Collins. He was predeceased by his two brothers Earl Hunter Collins Sr. and Harvey Lee Collins, Sr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Janice, daughter Yvonne Kay Parrish, husband T.J. and grandson Justin Parrish of Moon Township, PA. ; also several nieces and nephews.
Joe was a farmer and technician for Nansemond County Ford Tractor Sales. He was a former member of the Suffolk Golf Association. Golf was his passion where he won several trophies. He was a graduate of Whaleyville High School. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Agape Sunday School Class.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 2 PM in the R.W. Baker & Co Funeral Home and Crematory by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson, with burial to follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.
